Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026. This policy covers the Robin browser extension and the hosted service at thisisrobin.ai and api.thisisrobin.ai.
1. Who we are
Robin is a browser extension that helps you understand the current web page and automate actions on it. You can bring your own AI API key, or sign in and use hosted Robin AI. The operator of this site and the hosted API is Robin (thisisrobin.ai).
2. What we collect
We collect only what is needed to run the product.
Account
- Email address when you register or sign in.
- Password at register/login. We store a one-way hash, not the password itself.
- A session token (JWT) kept in local extension storage so you stay signed in.
Hosted Robin AI
- Chat messages (your prompts and Robin’s replies) sent to our API when you use hosted Robin AI.
- Website content from the tab you are on — text, structure, and any images you attach — so the model can see the page. This is sent only when you chat or call AI from a script.
- Usage and billing state: token counts, prepaid credit balance, and subscription plan/status. We do not see or store card numbers. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy.
Bring your own key (BYOK)
- API keys you paste (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, and others) stay in local extension storage on your device. They are sent only to the provider you chose, not to Robin’s servers.
- Page content and chat for BYOK go to your provider, not to
api.thisisrobin.ai, except that an account is still required to use the extension.
Saved on your device
- Settings, saved Actions and Automations, local chat history, theme, and similar preferences in Chrome/Firefox extension storage.
Connected tools (MCP)
- If you connect a tool (for example Notion, GitHub, Linear), we store the server config and encrypted credentials on our API so the extension can call that tool. Page scripts never see the raw token.
We do not collect health data, GPS location, a browsing-history log, click/keystroke analytics, or payment card details.
3. How we use it
- To create and authenticate your account.
- To run chat and page-aware AI (hosted Robin AI or your own provider).
- To bill prepaid credit and manage your subscription.
- To run tools you connected.
- To remember settings and scripts you saved in the extension.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use this data for unrelated advertising.
4. Who else sees it
- Hosted Robin AI: prompts, page context, and replies are processed by our API and the upstream model provider we use to serve Robin AI. Upstream API keys never ship in the extension.
- BYOK: your chosen AI vendor (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) receives the requests you send with your key, under that vendor’s policy.
- Lemon Squeezy: processes checkout and cards as merchant of record. We receive subscription and payment-success events, not full card numbers.
- MCP providers: only after you connect them; tool calls go through our API to that provider.
- Hosting: the API is hosted on our cloud provider (currently Railway). They may process request logs (for example IP addresses) as part of running the server; we do not use that as a product feature or sell it.
5. Scripts and page access
Robin can read the current tab so it can examine the page and generate automations. Generated JavaScript runs only after you click Run, unless you saved an Action with auto-run for a site. We do not inject third-party ads or remotely hosted extension code.
6. Retention
- Account, subscription, credit ledger, and usage totals are kept while the account exists.
- Chat content sent to hosted Robin AI is processed to return a reply and to bill usage. We do not sell conversation archives.
- Local extension data remains until you clear it, uninstall, or use the in-extension reset.
- You can ask us to delete your account and associated server data using the contact below.
7. Your choices
- Use BYOK so page content and chat go to your provider instead of hosted Robin AI.
- Do not connect MCP servers if you do not want tool credentials on our API.
- Uninstall the extension to remove local storage (browser-dependent).
- Email us to close an account and delete server-side data we hold for that email.
8. Children
Robin is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes will be reflected on this page before they apply to the published extension listing.
